Furtados recently got a chance to visit composer, producer as well as a highly respected guitar player Dhruv Ghanekar. We released a 3-part series highlighting Dhruv’s experience with PRS guitars. Dhruv has been playing PRS Guitars for over 20 years. In fact, his got his first ever PRS guitar exactly 20 years back when he was studying in the US at MI. His relationship with the brand and the guitar has been pretty strong. Watch the first part of the series where Dhruv talks about his journey with PRS.
Dhruv has two lovely PRS Guitars- the Custom 24 and Hollowbody II, which suits his various studio and live concert requirements. The Custom 24 is his favorite guitar, mainly for all of his work as it can handle all sort of weather conditions. This iconic instrument was the first model that Paul Reed Smith brought to the public at PRS Guitars’ first Winter NAMM Show in 1985. The Custom 24 is the original PRS. When Dhruv went for a tour with his band, Dhruv Voyage, some time back, he had to carry a real acoustic guitar along with his first electric but at festivals it gets quite difficult to set up an acoustic guitar. So, the Hollowbody II sorted this issue of carrying an acoustic guitar at festivals or tours. There are two output jacks on the Hollowbody II, which allows him to plug into his electric guitar or acoustic guitar amp or DI into a soundboard. Dhruv uses this guitar in a different way and the tuning of his PRS Hollowbody II is DADGAD. Here’s why Dhruv absolutely loves his guitars:
We also wanted a little scoop on Dhruv’s ongoing work and music with ‘Dhruv Voyage’. Here’s a little Artist Spotlight with Dhruv exclusively on Furtados TV!
